1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Gridlock Holmes at gridlock-holmes.com ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Site.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

2. Description of Service

Gridlock Holmes is a free educational platform that provides:

• An interactive CSS Grid generator tool
• Structured learning lessons covering CSS Grid in four formats: CSS, Tailwind, JavaScript, and SCSS
• Educational guides, articles, and resources about CSS layout techniques
• A reward game for students who complete the learning path

We may add, modify, or remove features at any time without prior notice.

3. User Accounts and Local Storage

Gridlock Holmes uses your browser's localStorage to save learning progress, layout configurations, and optional student login credentials. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

If you use the student login feature on a shared computer, please be aware that:

• Your username and progress are stored in the browser's localStorage
• Other users of the same browser may be able to access this data
• Clearing browser data will permanently delete your progress
• We cannot recover lost progress, as no data is stored on our servers

You are responsible for maintaining the security of any credentials you create and for all activity that occurs under your student profile.

4. Educational Content Disclaimer

All educational content on Gridlock Holmes is provided for general informational and learning purposes only. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy:

• We do not guarantee that all information is complete, accurate, or up to date
• CSS specifications and browser support may change after content is published
• Code examples are provided for educational purposes and may need adaptation for production use
• Completion of our lessons does not constitute a formal qualification or certification

We are not a registered educational institution. Our content supplements, but does not replace, formal education or professional training.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, images, lesson materials, code examples, the CSS Grid generator tool, and the site design — is owned by Gridlock Holmes or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may:

• Use the CSS Grid generator to create layouts for your own projects
• Use code generated by the tool in your personal and commercial projects
• Reference our educational content for personal learning

You may not:

• Reproduce, distribute, or republish lesson content or articles without written permission
• Create derivative works based on our lesson structure or curriculum
• Use our branding, logos, or trademarks without written permission
• Scrape, crawl, or automatically extract content from the Site
• Frame, mirror, or embed the Site or its pages on another website

6. Paid Features (Pro)

Certain features may be offered as paid upgrades ("Pro Features"). Payments for Pro Features are processed by Gumroad, a third-party payment processor. By purchasing Pro Features:

• You agree to Gumroad's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
• All payment processing, billing, and refund requests are handled by Gumroad
• We do not store your payment card details
• Refund eligibility is subject to Gumroad's refund policy

Prices are displayed in the currency shown at the point of sale and may be subject to applicable taxes. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time; changes will not affect existing purchases.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Site to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Infringe the intellectual property rights of others
• Transmit harmful code, viruses, or malicious software
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, its servers, or any connected systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Site's operation or other users' experience
• Use the Site for any commercial purpose not expressly permitted by these Terms
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organisation

8. Third-Party Services and Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites and uses the following third-party services:

• Netlify — hosting and content delivery
• Tailwind CSS CDN — front-end styling framework
• Google Analytics — website usage analytics
• Google AdSense — advertising (when implemented)
• Gumroad — payment processing for Pro features
• FormSubmit — contact form processing

We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of third-party services. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and policies.

9. Availability and Modifications

We strive to keep the Site accessible, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The Site may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time, including lesson content, the generator tool, or Pro Features, with or without notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• The Site and all content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
• We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site
• Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Site shall not exceed the amount you paid to us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gridlock Holmes, its owner, and any affiliates from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

12. Children and Young People

Gridlock Holmes is designed to be accessible to learners of all ages, including students in educational settings. However:

• Children under 13 should use the Site with parental or guardian supervision
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent
• Teachers and educators using the Site in a classroom setting are responsible for ensuring appropriate supervision and compliance with applicable child protection regulations
• The student login feature stores data in localStorage only and does not transmit personal information to our servers

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, you may also be entitled to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you reside.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
